RESOLUTION R -82 -08
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield and surrounding communities experienced
significant flooding as a result of the intense rainfall of July 21st and 22nd,
1982; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Water Resources, Illinois Department of Trans-
portation, is an active sponsor of the Floodwater Management Plan for the North
Branch of the Chicago River; and
WHEREAS, upstream detention facilities are needed and must be constructed
to reduce flooding in this area; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Water Resources has cooperated with local govern-
ment agencies in acquiring land needed for structural improvements; and
WHEREAS, all but one of the sites needed to implement said plan have been
acquired; and
WHEREAS, $1.81 million has been appropriated for acquisition of the re-
maining site (Structure #27) in the Village of Bannockburn; and
WHEREAS, acquisition of this property will expedite the Floodwater Manage-
ment Plan and will enhance the possibility of Federal financial participation in
this project:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION Governor James R. Thompson is hereby requested to authorize
ONE: the release of funds to acquire Site #27 in the Village of
Bannockburn which is needed to implement the Floodwater
Management Plan for the North Branch of the Chicago River.
SECTION This Resolution shall be forwarded to all neighboring
TWO: communities to encourage their cooperation and support
in requesting Governor Thompson to release said funds.
