ORDINANCE NO. 88 -66
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 7 OF CHAPTER 15 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 15 -54 of Article 7 of Chapter 15 of the
ONE: Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as
amended, be and the same is further amended by deleting
said section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the
following:
"Section 15 -54. Weapons, possession, discharge;
exceptions; identification card required.
(a) No person shall have in his possession, carry or use
except as provided in Subsections (b) and (c) a
cannon, gun, pistol, revolver, stun gun or firearms of
any description, a shotgun or rifle which may be used
for the explosion of bullets and cartridges, or any
air gun, BB guns, gas operated gun or spring operated
gun, or any instrument, toy or weapon commonly known
as a peashooter, slingshot, beany or throwing star, or
any knife except as may be specifically hereinafter
provided, whether that instrument is called by any
name set forth above or by any other name.
(b) Excepted from the prohibition in Subsection (a) shall
be weapons used:
(1) By a law enforcement officer in necessary
performance of his duty.
(2) By a member of a recognized military unit, in the
necessary performance of his duty.
(3) Any toy pistol capable of exploding only paper
caps containing thirty -five (35) grains or less
explosive composition, including starter pistols
used in sporting or athletic events: and

(4) The discharge of firearms in an indoor shooting
range where the walls of the shooting range are
adequate to prevent the escape of a bullet or
cartridge from the premises.
(c) No person may acquire or possess any firearm or any
firearm ammunition without having in his possession a
Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued ;.
in his name by the Department of State Police
pursuant to.the provisions of the Illinois Revised
Statutes."
SECTION That Section 15 -55 of Article 7 of Chapter 15 of the
TWO: Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of-1975, as
amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by
deleting said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu
thereof, the following:
"Section 15 -55. Concealed weapons, bows and arrows, high
explosive; exceptions.
(a) No person shall carry in any vehicle or concealed on
or about his person any weapon such as blackjack,
bludgeon, razor, dagger, dirk, switchblade knife,
stiletto, brass or metal knuckles, throwing star,
billy, slingshot, bomb or high explosive other than a
fixed ammunition.
(b) This Section shall not apply to law enforcement
officers in the performance of their duties, or other
persons authroized by law to carry such weapons.
(c) No person shall shoot with or use out of doors, within
the Village limits, a bow and arrow, the bow of which
has a "pull" of ten (10) pounds or over.
(d) No person shall use, within the Village limits, any
arrow with a tip or point of steel or other hard
substance."

SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
THREE: this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
FOUR: herewith are to the extent of such confict hereby
repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
FIVE: from and after its passage, approval and publication,
as provided by law.
