I RESOLUTION R -82 -10 WHEREAS, Waukegan Road (Illinois Route 43) is a four -lane divided arterial under the jurisdiction of the State of Illinois, Department of Trans- portation (IDOT); and WHEREAS, Waukegan Road carries in excess of 23,000 vehicles per day.; and WHEREAS, Waukegan Road intersects with roadways leading to the Deerfield Commons Shopping Center and the First National Bank of Deerfield; and WHEREAS, traffic studies performed by an independent traffic con- sultant have concluded that State warrants for traffic signals are met at said intersection; and WHEREAS, [DOT has confirmed that traffic signals are warranted and that it will issue a permit to the Village of Deerfield to install permanent traffic signals at said location; and WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield and the adjacent commercial property owners have agreed to share a portion of the costs for said signalization: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS THAT: SECTION The Village of Deerfield hereby requests the State ONE: of Illinois Department of Transportation to parti- cipate in the funding of traffic signals on Waukegan Road at the intersection of Commons Drive, in the amount of fifty per cent (50 %) of the total cost for said installation. SECTION The traffic signals shall be designed and installed TWO: in accordance with all regulations of the Illinois Department of Transportation. SECTION The Village of Deerfield shall be responsible for THREE: all maintenance and energy costs for said signals. SECTION This Resolution shall be forwarded to our State FOUR: Senator and Representatives requesting their support and cooperation in the State of Illinois' sharing the costs for this much needed public improvement.
