AN ORDNANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 88 -75 IMPOSING
A SURCHARGE FOR THE 911 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SYSTEM
WHEREAS, on November 21, 1988, the Corporate Authorities of the
Village of Deerfield adopted Ordinance No. 88 -75 imposing a
surcharge for the 911 emergency telephone system; and
WHEREAS, Section Five of said Ordinance No. 88 -75 provided that
the surcharge for said system was to be imposed beginning January 1,
1989; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have since been advised that
the telecommunication carriers are unable to implement the system on
said date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section Five of Ordinance 88 -75 be and is hereby
ONE: repealed and that the following be substituted in lieu
thereof:
"Section Five. The surcharge shall be imposed on the
first day of the month following the expiration of 90
days from the date upon which the Village Clerk
certifies to any of the telecommunication carriers who
are subject.to the surcharge that the referendum
referred to has passed."
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
TWO: this ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
THREE: from and after its passage, approval and publication,
as provided by law.
