O-89-27ORDINANCE NO. 0 -89 -27 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 22 -74 OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975 Published in pamphlet form this 5th day of June , 1989, by the President and Board of Trustees of Deerfield. 5623S3051889/39 ORDINANCE NO. 0 -89- 27 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 22 -74 OF CHAPTER 22 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That Section 22 -74, entitled "Towing Cars Away" of ONE: Chapter 22 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as amended, be and the same is further amended by retitling said Section "Towing and /or Immobilization of Motor Vehicles ", renumbering the existing text thereof as subsection (a) and by adding as subsection (b) the following: "Section 22 -74. Towing and /or Immobilization of Motor Vehicles. (b) In lieu of having motor vehicles removed by towing or otherwise, it shall be lawful for the Police Department and all members thereof to cause the vehicle to be immobilized by a boot or other device that prevents a vehicle from being moved by preventing a wheel from turning provided such boot or other device is of a design that does no damage to the vehicle or wheel. Immobilization may be employed as to those motor vehicles parked in violation of the provisions of Sections 22 -129 and 22 -129A of the Municipal Code regulating Village Parking Lots and the provisions of Sections 22 -76A regulating handicapped parking areas. The Police Department and its members may also immobilize those motor vehicles registered in the names of owners who have received prior Village parking violation citations, of which three remain unpaid. The charge for the removal of such boot or device shall be thirty dollars ($30.00), in addition to payment of any unpaid Village parking citations. An additional charge of $10.00 shall be assessed for each subsequent day during which the motor vehicle remains immobilized. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish TWO: this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
