WHEREAS, the Regional Transpotation Authority (RTA) has
instituted a regionwide fare policy which offers students reduced
fares on weekdays only; and
WHEREAS, the North Suburban Mass Transit District ( NORTRAN)
previously offered student reduced fares on weekends; and
WHEREAS, NORTRAN has received numerous requests for weekend
reduced student fares for use to the many school- related activities
on weekends; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to encourage youth in the use of
mass transit:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield,.Illinois, that:
1. The RTA offer reduced student fares on the NORTRAN
system on weekends, and
2. A copy of this resolution be provided to the RTA Board
of Directors.
