R -80 -14 j A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE VOTERS OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS THE PROPOSAL, "SHALL SECTION 2 -50 OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE OF 1975, BE AMENDED TO READ 'THE VILLAGE CLERK SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES, VOTING JOINTLY, FOR AN INDEFINITE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES'." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION Authority. Article VII, Section 6(f) of the Constitution of the ONE: State of Illinois, provides that a home rule municipality may elect by referendum to adopt, alter or repeal a form of govern- ment and to provide for its officers, their manner of election and terms of office. Chapter 46, paragraphs 28 -3 and 28 -4, Illinois Revised Statutes, provide for the initiation and holding of such referendum. SECTION Purpose. It is the purpose of this Resolution to provide for TWO: the submission to the electors of the Village of Deerfield, Illinois at the next general election to be held November 4, 1980, the proposition "Shall Section 2 -50 of the Village of Deerfield Municipal Code of 1975, be amended to read 'The Village Clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees, voting jointly, for an indefinite term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies'." SECTION Notice. The Village Clerk and /or the Lake County Election Board THREE: as the case may be shall cause notice of said election to be given in the manner provided by law and in the same manner as provided by law for general elections held in the Village of Deerfield, and the form. of notice shall include a statement of the proposition set forth in Section Two hereof. SECTION Election. The Election shall be held in compliance with any and FOUR: all applicable statutes governing the conduct of general elec- tions in municipalities in this State. SECTION Effective Date. This Resolution shall be in full force and FIVE: effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.
