AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF
DEERFIELD OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Chapter 15 of the Municipal Code of the Village
ONE: of Deerfield of 1975, be and the same is hereby
further amended by adding a new Section 15 -29.4
entitled "Deceptive Practices" as follows:
"Sec. 15 -29.4. Deceptive Practices"
A person commits a deceptive practice when, with intent to
defraud:
(a) He causes another, by deception or threat, to execute a
document disposing of property or a document by which a
pecuniary obligation is incurred, or ,
(b) He knowingly makes or directs another to make a false or
deceptive statement addressed to the public for the purpose
of promoting the sale of property or services, or
(c) With intent to obtain control over property or to pay for
property, labor or. services of another, he issues or
delivers a check or other order upon a real or fictitious
depository for the payment of money, knowing that it will
not be paid by the depository. Failure to have sufficient
funds or credit with the depository when the check or other
order is issued or delivered, or when such check or other
order is presented for payment and dishonored on each of 2
occasions at least 7 days apart, is prima facie evidence
that the offender knows that it will not be paid by the
depository, and.that he.has the intent to defraud.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
TWO: this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
THREE: herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby
repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance-shall be in full force and effect
FOUR: from and after its passage, approval and publication
as provided by law.
