AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 22, ARTICLE 17 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield is a Home Rule Unit by virtue of the
provisions of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield, as a Home Rule Unit, may exercise power
and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have considered the question of vehicle
license fees and have determined that in the exercise of their Home Rule
powers, said fees as to be set forth below:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 22 -140 entitled "Fees" of Chapter 22 of the Munici-

the same is hereby further amended by deleting said Section in
its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"Sec. 22 -140. Fees.
The annual fee to be paid for vehicle licenses shall be as follows:

School Buses operated by a not - for - profit corporation,
or a public or parochial school or buses operated by a
company on a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity

No Charge
The annual fee for a non - commercial vehicle license for a vehicle owned by a
resident of age 65 or over shall be $1.00 for the first vehicle licensed in
each year. Additional vehicles owned by such residents shall be licensed at
the rates set out above.
Any person failing to purchase and properly display the vehicle license
described herein shall be fined $25.00 therefor. Beginning January 1, 1981,
any person purchasing a vehicle license after January 1 in any year shall pay
a fee therefor in an amount of one and one half (1 -1/2) the fee set forth in
the schedule included in this Section."
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this

SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
THREE: are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
FOUR: after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
