R-79-16RESOLUTION NO. R -79 -16 WHEREAS, at present there is no radar system that gives us adequate advance warning of a. tornado; and WHEREAS, the National Weather Bureau has a tested and proven Doppler Radar System available which gives advance warning of at least twenty -two minutes of oncoming tornados; and WHEREAS, this advance warning system is definitely needed in our geographic location (tornado alley) in order to save lives: and WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield are most aware of the severe danger presented to our community by threat of tornados, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, hereby urge our congressmen to authorize the expenditure of funds (approximately $1,000,000) so that the National Weather Bureau can build this Doppler Radar Warning System for the Chicago Metropolitan Area.
