R-78-07( . . 1, RESOLUTION NO. R -78 -7 RESOLUTION DESIGNATING SITES FOR ACQUISITION FOR USE AS A SENIOR CITIZEN HOUSING DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, Corporate Authorities in response to widespread community interest have considered the question of providing adequate housing for senior citizens and have determined that there exists within the Village of Deerfield a shortage of housing for the elderly containing suitable amenities available at low and moderate rentals; and WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have designated and established a Senior Citizen Housing Site Selection Committee to consider appropriate locations within the Village of Deerfield for the establishment of a senior citizen housing development; and WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have previously entered into an agreement with Technical Assistance Corporation for Housing ( "TACH ") to serve as a consultant to work with the Site Selection Committee to evalu- ate the potential for the development of senior citizen housing within the Village of Deerfield and to analyze the available means of financing a senior citizen housing development; and WHEREAS, a shortage of housing for senior citizens is detrimental to the safety, health, morals and welfare of the residents of the Village of Deerfield and to the maintenance of a sound family and community life; and WHEREAS, the Site Selection Committee in coordination with TACH have completed an analysis of suitable sites for the purpose of senior citizen housing and have submitted their findings to the Corporate Authorities, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That the real property legally described on Exhibit A ONE: attached hereto and made a part hereof and more commonly known as 711 Waukegan Road and 705 Waukegan Road be and are hereby designated as suitable sites for senior citizen housing within the Village of Deerfield. SECTION That the Village Manager, with the assistance of the TWO: Village Consultant (TACH) and representative(s) of the Site Selection Committee, be and are hereby authorized to initiate negotiations for the acquisition of the properties described on Exhibit A hereto on terms and conditions mutually acceptable to the Village of Deerfield and to the owners of said properties. SECTION That the Village Manager be directed to report the results THREE: of said negotiations to the Village of Deerfield from time to time for consideration of the Corporate Authorities. SECTION That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from FOUR: and after its passage in the manner provided by law.
