RESOLUTION RESTATING POLICY FOR STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village to establish uniform
standards for street lights to be erected in the public rights -of -way within
the Village and to restate prior Village policy with respect to the partici-
pation of the Village in the expense of erecting or replacing street lights
in existing residential subdivisions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That all street lights hereafter erected and installed in
ONE: public rights -of -way in residentially -zoned areas of the
Village shall be color- corrected, mercury -vapor lights having
a light intensity of 4,000 lumens and shall be mounted within a colonial -
style fixture on concrete standards twelve (12) feet in height.
SECTION That in existing residential subdivisions which have no street
TWO: lights or have street lights which require replacement, such
lights shall be located at street intersections and mid -block
in cases of blocks exceeding 650 feet in length.
SECTION That in existing residential subdivisions which have no street
THREE: lights or have street lights which require replacement, the
Village Manager is directed to cause street lights of the type
and at the location(s) hereinabove specified, to be erected and installed at
the request of an adjoining or neighboring property owner(s) and upon the
deposit with the Village of a sum which, in the determination of the
Village Engineer, will equal the cost for each such light so requested,
provided that where an existing light standard meeting the specifications
hereinabove provided is available at no expense to the Village and is in
condition to be utilized, then the Village Manager is directed to cause the
erection and installation of a street light upon request and upon the
deposit of a sum which, in the determination of the Village Engineer, will
equal the cost of such street light with the Village. .
SECTION That this Resolution shall in no way pertain to or affect
FOUR: the obligation of a subdivider to pay the full expense of
installing street lights as provided in Chapter 20 of the
Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield.
