O-77-17ORDINANCE NO. 0 -77 -17 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING OF A REGULAR VILLAGE ELECTION, PUBLISHING OF NOTICE OF ELECTION, ESTABLISHING PRECINCTS, DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES, AND APPOINTING JUDGES OF ELECTION, TO BE HELD ON APRIL 19, 1977, IN THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, it is provided by law that a regular election shall be held in the Village of Deerfield on the 19th day of April, 1977, for the filling of the following offices, to -wit: Village President, Village Clerk, three (3) Village Trustees for full four -year terms, two (2) Library Directors for full six -year terms, two (2) Library Directors to serve until April 21, 1981, and one (1) Library Director to serve until April 17, 1979. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That a regular election is hereby called to be held in and ONE: for the Village of Deerfield, on Tuesday, April 19, 1977, between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. of said day, for the purpose of electing a Village President, Village Clerk, three (3) Village Trustees for full four -year terms, two (2) Library Directors for full six -year terms, two (2) Library Directors to serve until April 21, 1981, and one (1) Library Director to serve until April 17, 1979. SECTION That notice' of said election shall be published in the TWO: News - Advertiser, a newspaper published in and having a general circulation in said Village; said publication to be not more than thirty (30) days nor less than fifteen (15) days prior to the date of said election, and that said notice shall be in substantially the following form: NOTICE OF ELECTION Public Notice is hereby given that on April 19, 1977, a regular Village Election shall be held in the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois, for the purpose of electing a Village President, Village Clerk, three (3) Village Trustees for full four -year terms, two (2) Library Directors for full six -year terms, two (2) Library Directors to serve until April 21, 1981, and one (1) Library Director to serve until April 17, 1979. The polling places and precincts for such election shall be as follows: Precinct No. 1 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying south of the center line of Deerfield Road, north of the center line of Dartmouth Lane extended, and west of the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River (West drainage ditch). Polling Place: Wilmot School Administration Building Wilmot and Deerfield Roads Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. south of the West Fork of ditch). 2 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying center line of Dartmouth Lane extended and west of the the North Branch of the Chicago River (West drainage Polling Place: South Park School Hackberry Road Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 3 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying south of the center line of Deerfield Road, east of the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River (West drainage ditch), and west of the center line of Waukegan Road; also that portion of the Village lying east of the center line of Waukegan Road and south of Kates Road extended in an easterly direction. Polling Place: Alan B. Shepard Junior High School Franken and Grove Streets Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 4 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying south of the center line of Deerfield Road, east of the center line of Waukegan Road, and north of Kates Road extended in an easterly direction. Polling Place: Kipling School Kipling Place Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 5 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying north of the center line of Deerfield Road, east of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad right -of -way, and west of the center line of Warrington Road, excepting therefrom the Walden School site on the west side of Warrington Road. Polling Place: Deerfield Village Hall 850 Waukegan Road Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 6 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying north of the center line of Deerfield Road, east of the center line of Warrington Road, and in addition thereto, the Walden School site on the west side of Warrington Road. Polling Place: Walden School Essex Court Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 7 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying north of the center line of Deerfield Road, west of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad right -of -way, and east of a line described as follows: Commencing at the intersection of Stratford Road and North Avenue, thence Southerly along the center line of Stratford Road to the center line of the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River (West drainage ditch), thence continuing South along the center line of said West Fork to its intersection with Deerfield Road. Polling Place: Maplewood School Clay and Alden Courts Deerfield, Illinois Precinct No. 8 shall consist of that portion of the Village lying north of the center line of Deerfield Road, West of a line described as follows: Commencing at the intersection of Stratford Road and North Avenue, thence Southerly along the center line of Stratford Road to the center line of the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River (West drainage ditch), thence continuing South along the center line of said West Fork to its intersection with Deerfield Road. Polling Place: Woodland Park School School Street Deerfield, Illinois The polls for said election will be opened at 6:00 A.M. and will be closed at 6:00 P.M., C.S.T., on the date of said election. Voters must vote at the polling place designated for the election precinct in which they reside. Published by order of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois. Dated this day of PRESIDENT ATTEST: VILLAGE CLERK 1977. SECTION That, for said election, the Village of Deerfield shall be THREE: divided into eight (81 election precincts, the boundaries thereof and the polling places therefor being as herein - above set forth in Section Two of this Ordinance. SECTION That the ballot to be used in such election shall be in FOUR: the form prescribed by statute. It shall be the duty of the Village Clerk to see to the preparation of sufficient ballots for the election, and to cause a sample of such ballot to be published once on the News - Advertiser, the same being a newspaper published and of general circulation in said Village, not less than five (5) days prior to the date set for said election, and to procure and prepare all necessary election material for holding and conducting said .election under the laws of the State of Illinois.
