AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20.323 OF
CHAPTER 20 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD
WHEREAS, Overland Trail and Summit Drive are residential in
character and the resulting access to said streets by virtue of
single family driveways creates a significant "access conflict"
as defined by the State of Illinois Department of Public Works,
Division of Highways; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department and Village Safety Council
have determined that, based on a traffic survey conducted by the
Police Department, the present speed limit on said streets is
greater than is reasonably safe and have recommended that the
maximum speed limit on such streets be established at 25 miles
per hour.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE.VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 20.323 of Chapter 20 of the Muni -
ONE: cipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, is
hereby amended by adding to the list of streets
where the speed limit is established at 25 miles per hour, the
following:
"On Overland Trail, throughout its entirety, from
its intersection with North Avenue on the south
to its intersection with Summit Drive on the north.
and
On Summit Drive, throughout its entirety, from its
intersection with Overland Trail on the west to its
intersection with Portage Pass on the east."
SECTION That the Village Manager shall cause to be
TWO: erected appropriate signs at proper places
along such streets giving notice of the maxi-
mum speed limit herein established.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to
THREE: publish this ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this ordinance shall be in full force and
FOUR: effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication, as provided by law.
