AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20.323 OF
CHAPTER 20 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD
WHEREAS, Pine Street is residential in character and the resulting access
to Pine Street by virtue of single family driveways and school driveways creates
a significant "access conflict" as defined by the State of Illinois Department
of Public Works, Division of Highways; and
WHEREAS, the Pine Street sidewalks consist of narrow carriage walks located
immediately behind the right -of -way and the pedestrian activity thereon results
in a hazardous condition; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department and Village Safety Council have determined
that, based on these conditions, the present speed limit on said street is
greater than is reasonably safe and have recommended that the maximum speed
limit on such street be established at 25 miles per hour.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 20.323 of Chapter 20 of the Municipal Code of
ONE: Deerfield of 1963, as amended, is hereby amended by adding
to the list of streets where the speed limit is established
at 25 miles per hour, the following:
"On Pine Street, throughout its entirety, from its
intersection with Lake -Cook Road on the south to its
intersection with Deerfield Road on the north."
SECTION That the Village Manager shall cause to be erected appropriate
TWO: signs at proper places along such streets giving notice of the
maximum speed limit herein established.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this
THREE: Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
FOUR: and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided
by law.
