COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

The Village Board met as a Committee of the Whole in the conference room of the Village Hall at
9:03 P.M. following the regular Village Board meeting on Monday, May 6, 2002. In attendance
were:
Steven Harris, Mayor Robert Franz, Village Manager
Jerry Kayne, Trustee Robert Fialkowski, Director of Finance
Derek Ragona, Trustee Peter Coblentz, Village Attorney
Harriet Rosenthal, Trustee Barbara Little, Director of Public Works/Engineering
Vernon Swanson, Trustee Barbara Houpt, Director of Community Development
Matthew Wylie, Trustee
Village Center Promotional Events
Joan Reed discussed with the Board plans for the 2002 Plaza. Pleasures sharing with the Board a list
of private contributions from local businesses over the last nine years. She related that it is getting
more and more difficult to solicit donations citing that only 15 responses were received this year
from over 75 letters sent to local businesses. She asked the Board if it was willing to budget
annually to assure that the Saturday morning events at Farmers Market. will continue.
After some discussion, the Board agreed to include $10,000 in next year's budget for Plaza
Pleasures. Merchants will still be asked for donations but Joan will be able to schedule events
without having to wait on business contributions.
Executive Session
Trustee Rosenthal made a motion to go into executive session to discuss litigation, seconded by
Trustee Wylie. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Kayne, Ragona, Rosenthal, Swanson, Wylie (5)
NAYS: None (0)
The meeting adjourned at 9:25 P.M.
