O-74-11I e _ � r ORDINANCE NO. 0 -74 -11 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 17 (REGULATING AND LICENSING TAXICABS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE Published in pamphlet form this 4th day of March , 1974, by the President and Board of Trustees of Deerfield. ORDINANCE NO. 0 -74- 11 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE VIII OF CHAPTER 17 (REGULATING AND LICENSING TAXICABS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That Sub- article 1 of Article VIII of Chapter 17 of the ONE: Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by adding the following sections thereto: 17.801.10 Reciprocal Taxicab Licensing Agreement.) The Village may, from time to time, enter into a reciprocal licensing agreement with other municipalities in order to eliminate duplication of taxicab and taxicab driver licensing and inspection. In the event that a reciprocal taxicab licensing agreement exists between the Village of Deerfield and another municipality served by the same taxicab company and in order to operate within the Village of Deerfield, the taxicab company shall pay to the Village of Deerfield, in lieu of a licensing fee, an annual franchise fee of $240.00, which franchise fee shall permit the taxi- cab company to operate up to six taxicabs within the Village at no additional cost. If a taxicab company desires to obtain a franchise for additional taxicabs, the franchise fee shall be increased at the rate of $40.00 per taxicab. 17.801.11 Inspection of Reciprocally Licensed Taxicabs and Examination of Drivers.) The Village of Deerfield shall permit the operation of taxicabs within the Village which have been licensed by a municipality with whom the Village has a reciprocal licensing agreement, and the Village shall permit the operation of taxicabs within the Village by drivers possessing a valid taxicab driver's license issued by a municipality with whom the Village has a reciprocal licensing agreement without compliance with the taxicab and driver licensing and inspection require- ments set forth above. 17.801.12 Revision of Reciprocal Taxicab Agreement.) In the event that, as provided by the terms of the reciprocal taxicab licensing agreement, the Village is advised by a participating municipality that said municipality has amended the provisions of its taxicab licensing ordinance in areas related to the inspection, licensing and main- tenance of taxicabs and licensing of taxicab drivers, the Village President may rescind said reciprocal licensing agreement and require -full compliance by franchisees with all Village ordinance regulations relating to the licensing and operation of taxicabs and licensing of drivers as they apply to all other licensees within the Village. SECTION That Section 17.803.1 of Sub- article 3 of Article VIII of TWO: Chapter 17 of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: 17.803.1 Rates of Fare - Rate Card Required.) No owner or driver of a taxicab shall charge a greater sum for the use of a taxicab than in accordance with the follow- ing rates: For the first 1/2 mile or fraction thereof, for one person :..................65 cents For each succeeding 1/6 mile or fraction thereof...... .............................10 cents For each additional passenger (excluding children under 12 years ofage) ...... .............................10 cents Waiting time ............. .....................$6.00 /hr. Waiting time shall include the time when the taxicab is not in motion, beginning with the arrival at the place to which it had been called, or the time consumed while standing at the direction of the passenger, but no charge shall be made for time lost for inefficiency of the taxi- cab or its operator, or time consumed by premature response to a call. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this THREE: Ordinance in pamphlet form. SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here - FOUR: with are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from FIVE: and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
