O-21-43VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD ORDINANCE NO. 2021- 0-21-43 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 9-24 AND 9-24A OF "THE DEERFIELD CODE OF ORDINANCES," AS AMENDED, REGARDING PURCHASING PROCEDURES AND DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS PROPERTY WHEREAS, the Village is a home rule municipal corporation in accordance with Article VII, Section 6(a) of the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970; and WHEREAS, Section 9-24 of the Deerfield Code of Ordinances ("Village Code') provides the Village Manager authority to make certain purchases and sets forth various purchasing procedures; and WHEREAS, the Village Board finds that it is prudent and more efficient to increase the Village Manager's purchasing authority from $20,000 to $25,000 and to keep the Village Code consistent with the Village's Purchasing Manual; and WHEREAS, Section 9-24A of the Village Code sets forth the procedures for disposing of surplus property; and WHEREAS, the Village Board finds that it is prudent and more efficient to update Section 9-24A to keep the Village Code consistent with the Purchasing Manual, which also governs the disposal of surplus property; and WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it will serve and be in the best interest of the Village to amend the Village Code pursuant to this Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD OF DEERFIELD, LANE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows: SECTION ONE: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are incorporated into, and made a part of, this Ordinance as findings of the Village Board. SECTION TWO: AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 9-24. Section 9-24, titled "Manager's Authority for Purchasing and Tort Settlements," of Article 6, titled "Contracts," of Chapter 9, titled "Finance and Taxation," of the Village Code is hereby amended and to further to read as follows: "Sec. 9-24. SECTION THREE: AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 9-24A. Section 9-24A, titled "Authority to Dispose of Surplus Property," of Article 6, titled "Contracts," of Chapter 9, titled "Finance and Taxation," of the Village Code is hereby amended and to further to read as follows: "Sec. 9-24A.
