O-71-26• 4 ORDINANCE NO. 0 -71 -2E AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION AND PARTICIPATION BY THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD IN A LOCAL MASS TRANSIT DISTRICT WHEREAS, the Local Mass Transit District Act, approved July 21, 1959, as amended by House Bill No. 815 enacted by the Seventy -Fifth General Assembly of the State of Illinois, effective June 29, 1967, provides for the creation of a local mass transit district for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, owning, opera- ting and maintaining mass transit facilities for public service or subsidizing the operation thereof; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the municipalities of Deerfield, Evanston, Fox Lake, Glencoe, Glenview, Golf, Grayslake, Highland Park, Kenilworth, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Morton Grove, Niles, Northbrook, Northfield, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights, Round Lake Park, Skokie, Wilmette and Winnetka, or some combination of said municipalities, or others, shall by ordinance create and participate in the creation of a local mass transit district to be called the NORTH SUBURBAN MASS TRANSIT DISTRICT, the territorial limits of which shall be co- existent with the terri- torial limits of all the participating municipalities; and WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the public interest and for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Village of Deerfield that the Village of Deerfield participate in the creation of said District; and WHEREAS, the powers of the said District shall repose in and be exercised by a Board of Trustees, as provided by said Local Mass Transit District Act, as amended, one of whom shall be appointed by the corporate authorities of each of the municipalities partici- pating therein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That the Village of Deerfield hereby creates and ONE: participates in the creation of the North Suburban Mass Transit District. SECTION That HOWARD KANE is hereby appointed as TWO: a member of the Board of Trustees of the North Suburban Mass Transit District on behalf of the Village of Deerfield, Illinois. SECTION That the Village Clerk is directed to file a THREE: certified copy of this Ordinance in the Offices of the County Clerks of Cook and Lake Counties, Illinois. SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and FOUR: effect upon its passage and approval as provided by law.
