ORDINANCE NO. 0 -71 -35 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That Section 24.313 of Article III of Chapter 24 of the Municipal ONE: Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking subsection (f) in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "(f) Any waters or wastes having a pH lower than 4.5 of higher than 10.0, or having any other corrosive property capable of causing damage or hazard to structures, equipment and personnel of the sewage works." That said Section 24.313 be and the same is hereby furthe -r- amended by adding the following at the end thereof: "Except as hereinafter provided, no person shall discharge or cause or permit to be discharged into any public sewer any of the following wastes or chemicals in concentrations exceeding the maximum concentration thereof set forth as follows: Waste or Chemical Boron Chromium (Total) Chromium (Hexavalent) Copper Cyanide (Total) Cyanide (Readily released at 150 degrees F and pH = 4.5) Iron Lead Nickel Zinc Cadmium Freon or related fluorine compounds Concentration mg /1 1.0 25.0 10.0 3.0 10.0 2.0 50.0 0.5 10.0 15.0 2.0 .0" SECTION That Section 24.315 of Article III of Chapter 24 of the Municipal TWO: Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is.hereby further amended by adding the following at the end of the first paragraph thereof' "Dilution of effluents shall not be an acceptable alternative to treatment. Where water which contains any contaminant in concentrations or quantities which would not require treat- ment to meet the criteria hereinabove set forth is added to a stream of waste water before its discharge into the public sewer and cannot be reasonably separated, then its quantity shall be measured and the concentration of each such contaminant in the combined waste stream shall be recomputed to exclude the diluting effect. The concentrations of contaminants so computed shall be used in determining whether there is compliance with the limitations hereof on discharges into the public sewers." SECTION That Article XI of Chapter 24 of the Municipal THREE: Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking Sections 24.1105 through 24.1108, inclusive, in their entirety. SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances.in FOUR: conflict herewith, are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish FIVE: this Ordinance in pamphlet form. SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and SIX: effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
