AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20.343(b) OF
CHAPTER 20 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 20.343(b) of Chapter 20 of the
ONE: Municipal Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended,
be and the same is hereby further amended by striking said Section in
its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"20.343(b) For the purpose of this Section, "drag race"
means the act of two or more individuals competing or
racing on any street or highway in this Village in a
situation in which one of the motor vehicles is
beside or to the rear of a motor vehicle operated by
a competing driver and the one driver attempts to
prevent the competing driver from passing or overtaking
him, either by acceleration or maneuver, or one or more
individuals competing in a race against time on any
street or highway in this Village."
SECTION That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
TWO: conflict herewith, are, to the extent of such
conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
THREE: this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
FOUR: from and after its passage, approval and publication,
as provided by law.
