AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20.323 OF
CHAPTER 20 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD
WHERAS, the Police Department and Village Safety Council
have made a traffic investigation and have determined on the basis
thereof and of the conditions found to exist upon and along Longfellow
Avenue and Kipling Place that the present speed limit on said streets
is greater than is reasonably safe and have recommended that the maxi-
mum speed limit on such streets be established at 25 miles per hour.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 20.323 of Chapter 20 of the Municipal
ONE: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, is hereby
amended by adding a subsection (a) thereto:
"(a) A speed limit of 25 miles per hour is herein
determined and declared to be the reasonable and
safe absolute maximum speed limit at which any
motor vehicle shall be operated along the follow-
ing streets located within a residential urban
area of this Village:
"On Longfellow Avenue, throughout its entirety,
from its intersection with Waukegan Road on the
West to its intersection with Byron Court on the
East; and
"On Kipling Place, throughout its entirety, from
its intersection with Deerfield Road on the North
to its intersection with Longfellow Avenue on the
South."
SECTION That the Village Manager shall cause to be
TWO: erected appropriate signs at proper places along
such streets giving notice of the maximum speed limit herein established.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to
THREE: publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
FOUR: effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication, as provided by law.
