R-72-X3RESOLUTION NO. R -72- WHEREAS, the construction of a Shopping Center on acreage adjacent to the southeast corner of Waukegan Road (Ill. 43) and Halfday Road (Ill. 22) is under consideration; and WHEREAS, this property and adjoining acreage was formerly designated as a site for a Forest Preserve in the rapidly growing southeast part,of Lake County; and WHEREAS, this site, with its many large, old trees and native plants, its historical interest as a campsite of the Pottowatomi Indians, the location of much of the acreage-within the flood plain, its proximity to schools whose Boards of Education have .expressed interest in its use as an outdoor laboratory for botanical studies, has unique qualities which combine to make its purchase a meaningful acquisition of open space in an area which is rapidly being developed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village -of Deerfield that this Board respectfully and urgently requests the purchase of this property by the Lake County Forest Preserve District; and. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to the Lake County Forest Preserve District and its Land Acquisition Committee, and to the Lake County Board of Supervisors.
