ORDINANCE NO. 0 -69 -271 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 24.312, 24.402, 2,4,.403 AND :24.409 OF CHAPTER Z4 .O.,F. ,THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD OF 1963, AS AMENDED BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That Section 24.312 of Chapter-24 of the Municipal ONE: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking the last paragraph thereof in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "No-roof drain connections shall be made to any sanitary sewer; and it shall be unlawful to permit water from such drains to discharge upon or over private property other than the site upon which the building is located, or ease- ments. No footing tile or other underdrain shall be con- nected to the sanitary sewer." SECTION That Section 24.402 of Chapter 24 of the Municipal TWO: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking the first and'second paragraphs thereof in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "24.402 Roof drains and downspouts.) All buildings�or parts of buildings, unless exempt herein, shall be provided with water disposal for conducting rainwater from the roof to the sewer or other means of disposal approved by the village engineer, in such a manner as shall protect the walls and foundation of the building and adjacent structures from damage. All roof drains shall be connected to the nearest storm sewer if available or if not then to such-other drainage system as may be approved by the village engineer, provided that roof drains of structures which as of the effective date of this ordinance are sashed blocked or are otherwise discharged onto the building site shall not be required to be connected to an ­2 - available storm sewer unless the village engineer determines that existing conditions necessitate such connection in order to protect the property of others or otherwise provide proper drainage in the area; provided further that in no event shall any roof $rain or other-storm water drain be connected to any sanitary sewer. It shall be unlawful to permit-water from such roof . drains to flow upon or over private property other than the site upon-which the buildi -gg is located, or easements." S,EC'TION That Section 24.403 of Chapter 24 of the Municipal THREE: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking said section in its entirety and substituting-in-lieu thereof the following: "24.403 Drainage areas ­rear yard drains.) Outside area other than-roof areas, shall be drained to a storm sewer where necessary to avoid the discharge of water onto adjoining premises." SECTION That Section 24.409 of Chapter 24 of the Municipal FOUR: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking the third paragraph thereof in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following': "Footing drains shall be connected to a sump pump. The discharge pipe from the said sump pump shall be connected to the storm sewer if available. Such connection to the storm sewer from a sump pump connected to footing-drains shall be made in accordance with specifications approved from time to time by the President and Board of Trustees." SECTION That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict FIVE: herewith, are, to the extent of-such-conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish SIX: this Ordinance in pamphlet form. - 3 - SECTION That This Ordinance shall be in full force and SEVEN: effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
