ORDINANCE NO. 0 -68- 60
TAX ABATEMENT ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the (resident and Board of Trustees did on September
5, 1967, enact certain Ordinance relative to increasing the maxi-
mum tax rate for general corporate purposes (0- 67 -51) which Ordi-
nance, pursuant to Section 8 -3 -1 of the'Illinois Municipal Code,
was intended to increase the maximum tax rate for general corporate
purposes of the Village of Deerfield from .1826% to .217% for the
tax year 1967 ano subsequent years; and
WHEREAS, in reliance on the.aforesaid increase in the tax
rate, on September,3, 1968, the President and Board of Trustees
enacted an "Or4tpgnce Levying Taxes for Corporate Purposes for the
Fiscal Year Commencing on the First Day of May, 1968, and Ending
on the Thirtieth pay of April, 1969, for the Village of Deerfield"
(0- 68 -39) ; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the enactment of 0- 68 -39, the President
and Board of Trustees were informed and learned that the Illinois
Department of Revenue and the County Clerks of Lake and Cook Counties,
Illinois, in which the Village of Deerfield is situated, have con-
strued Section 4 -3 -1 of the'Illinois Municipal Code and Ordinance
No. 0 -67 -47 of tie Village of Deerfield as having the effect
without further fiction of the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of peerfield of further increasing said tax rate for
the tax year 196$ from .217% to .25 %; and
WHEREAS, it was not the intention nor desire of the President
and Board of Trustees to increase the tax rate above .217% as such
rate when exteilged against the assessed valuation of all taxable
property in the Village will produce sufficient tax revenue to
defray :the anticipated expenses of the Village as specified in
Ordinance No. 0668 -39.
NOW, THEREFq BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VTTLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION Tbat the County Clerk of Lake - County and the County
ONE.: Clerk of Cook County are hereby authorized and directed
to abate the tax in the amount of $125,000 of the.total

the'Village Polipe Department and to abate the tax in the amount
of $51,000 of the total tax of $129,450 hitherto provided for and
levied for purposes of general administration in the Ordinance
Levying Taxes for Porporate�Purposes for the,Current Fiscal Year
Commencing on the first Day of May, 1968, and Ending on the Thirtieth
Day of April, 1969, for the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook
Counties, Illinols,,a copy,of which Ordinance has been duly
filed with the County Clerks of said Counties, thereby reducing
the total tax levy for General Corporate Purposes from $380,050
to $204,050.
SECTION T41t the'Village of Deerfield will receive from other

meet the amounts appropriated during said fiscal year
for which purposes said taxes were levied, and the full levy of the tax
provided for in ggid ordinances is, therefore, unnecessary. Thereg
fore, the County Glerks.are directed to abate and not to spread the
full amount of SRid taxes.
