ORDINANCE 0 -67- 51
AN ORDINANCE RELATIVE TO
INCREASING THE MAXIMUM TAX RATE
FOR GENERAL CORPORATE PURPOSES
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Statutes of the State of
Illinois, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake
and Cook Counties, Illinois, is presently authorized to levy for
the said Village a tax for general corporate purposes at a rate
not to exceed .1826% of the full fair cash value as equalized or
assessed by the Department of Revenue, and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly has enacted an amendment
to Section 8 -3 -1 of the Illinois Municipal Code permitting the
corporate authorities without referendum to increase the maximum
rate from any amount less than .20% to a rate not to exceed .25%
provided that such maximum rate shall not be raised by more than
one -half of such increase in any one year, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the
Village that the necessary action be taken to levy the additional
tax for general corporate purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK
COUNTIES, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That it is the opinion of the Trustees of
the Village of Deerfield that a greater levy than .1826% of the
full fair cash value as equalized or assessed by the Department of
Revenue of taxable property in the Village of Deerfield for general
corporate purposes is needed for the fiscal year beginning
May 1, 1967, and ending April 30, 1968.
Section 2. That the tax for general corporate purposes
be and the same is hereby increased to the maximum amount provided
for in the aforementioned amendment to Section 8 -3 -1 of the
Illinois Municipal Code on the full fair cash value as equalized
or assessed by the Department of Revenue of the taxable property
within the said Village of Deerfield.

Section 3. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to
file with the County Clerks of Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois,
on or before the second Tuesday of September, 1967, a copy of
this Ordinance duly certified by said Village Clerk.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval.
