O-67-57V I L L A G E O F D E E R F I E L D ORDINANCE NO. 0 -67 -57 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 8.301, 8.302 AND 8.305 OF ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 8 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1963, AS AMENDED PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES THE 16th DAY OF October , 1967: Published in pamphlet form by authority of the corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield, Illinois, the 16th day of October , A.D . 1967. 1 s < ORDINANCE NO. 0 -67 -57 ,AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 8.301, 8.302 AND 8.305 OF ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 8 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1963, AS AMENDED BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, -LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION , That Section 8.301 of Article III of Chapter ONE: 8 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "8.301 Creation.) There shall be a board of fire and police commissioners as provided by law, which shall consist of three members whose term shall be for three years. Such members shall be appointed by the president, by and with advice and consent of the board of trustees. No person holding a lucrative office of the United States, the State of Illinois or any political subdivision thereof or a municipality shall be appointed to the board of fire and police commissioners, nor shall any person be appointed to said board who is related either by blood or marriage up to the degree of first cousin to any elected offi- cial of the Village of Deerfield. No more than two members of the board shall belong to the same political party existing in the Village of Deerfield at the time of such appointments and as defined in the Election Code of the State of Illinois. If only one or no political party exists in the Village of Deerfield at the time of such appointments, then state or na- tional political party affiliations shall be considered in making such appointments. Party affiliation shall be determined by affidavit of the person appointed as a member of the board. Vacancies on the board shall i a is be filled in the same manner as the original appoint- ment." SECTION That Section 8.302 of Article III of Chapter TWO: 8 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by adding at the end of said section the following: "and perform such other duties as are provided by law." SECTION That Section 8.305 of Article III of Chapter THREE: 8 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "8.305 Removal or discharge.) No member of the board of fire and police commissioners shall be removed from office except for cause upon written charges and after an opportunity to be heard within 30 days in his defense before a regular meeting of the president and board of trustees. A majority vote of the corporate authorities of the village shall be required to remove any such member from office." SECTION That all ordinances and parts of ordinances FOUR: in conflict herewith, are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force FIVE: and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
