AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 16.401 AND
REPEALING SECTION 16.404 OF CHAPTER 16
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 16.401 of Chapter 16 of the
ONE: Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further
amended by striking said section in its entirety and substituting
in lieu thereof the following:
16.401 Municipal retailers occupation tax. A
tax is hereby imposed upon all persons engaged
in the business of selling tangible personal
property at retail in the village at the rate
of three - fourths of one percent of the gross
receipts from such sales made in the course of
business while this ordinance is in effect, in
accordance with the provisions of Chapter 24,
Section 8 -11 -1 of the Illinois Revised
Statutes, as amended.
SECTION That Section 16.404 of Chapter 16 of
TWO: the Municipal Code of the Village of
Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and
the same is further amended by repealing Section 16.404 in its
entirety.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed
THREE: to transmit to the State Department of
Revenue a certified copy of this ordinance
not later than five (S) days after the effective date of this
ordinance.
SECTION This ordinance shall be published within
FOUR: ten (10) days of its enactment as provided
in Section 1 -2 -4 of the Illinois Municipal
Code and shall be effective from and after the first day of the
calendar month next following its publication.
