ORDINANCE NO. 0 -67- 47 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 17 -901 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF DEERFIELD BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION That Section 17.901 of Chapter 17 of the Municipal ONE: Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the same is further amended by striking said Section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof, the following: 17.901 Tax rate. A tax is hereby imposed upon all per- sons engaged in this municipality in the business of making sales of service at the rate of three- quarters of one percent of the gross receipts received from such busi- ness, in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 -11 -5 of the Illinois Municipal Code. SECTION Every serviceman required to account for Municipal TWO: Service Occupation Tax for the benefit of this municipality shall file, on or before the last day of each calendar month, the report to the State Department of Revenue required by Section Nine of the Service Occupation Tax Act. SECTION At the time such report is filed, there shall be THREE: paid to the State Department of Revenue the amount of tax hereby imposed. SECTION The Village Clerk is hereby directed to transmit FOUR: to the State Department of Revenue a certified copy of this Ordinance not later than five (5) days after the effective dateof this Ordinance. SECTION This Ordinance shall be published within ten (10) FIVE: days of its enactment as provided in Section 1 -2 -4 of the Illinois Municipal Code and shall be effec- tive from and after the first day of the calendar month next fol- lowing the expiration of the ten (10) day publication period. - 2 - SECTION Ordinance No. 0- 67 -43, entitled "An Ordinance SIX: Amending Section 17 -901 of the Municipal Code of Deerfield ", enacted July 17, 1967, is hereby repealed effective August 1, 1967. You should impose the Municipal Service Occupation Tax on persons engaged in your munici- pality in the business of making sales of service at the rate of 3/4 of 1% of the gross receipts from any such . business ---not on the serviceman's cost price of tangible personal property, because the law with reference to the basis for this tax has been changed.
