RESOLUTION NO 0-70-/
A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE IMPROVEMENT
OF COUNTY LINE ROAD
WHEREAS, the HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT OF THE COUNTY OF COOK, in
cooperation with the County of Lake proposes to improve that portion of
County.Line Road which adjoins or traverses the corporate limits of the
Village of Deerfield by increasing its width to provide for four lanes -
of traffic, which improvement will have significant effects upon traffic
and safety conditions on streets owned and maintained by the Village of
Deerfield which intersect with County Line Road and on the development
of lands adjoining such Village streets; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Deerfield and the
.',Village's traffic consultant have recommended that the safe movement of
traffic on said improved County Line Road--and the intersecting Village
streets would be greatly enhanced by the construction of left -turn bays
..on County Line Road at its intersection with certain Village streets
and the blocking or closing off to vehicular traffic of other intersect-
ing'Village streets; and
"WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of
.' Deerfield concur in such recommendations and deem it to be in the best
' interests of the Village to implement such recommendations to the fullest
extent possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
' <• TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS:
1. That the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Deerfield
. do hereby express their intent in the event said County Line Road is
:improved in the manner proposed.by the Cook County Highway Department
...,improved
in particular, the construction of left -turn bays at-the
intersection of County Line Road and Wilmot Road, Birchwood Avenue, Pine
Street, Ellendale Road and Carlisle Avenue, to enact such ordinances of
vacation and do such other acts as may be necessary to prohibit and pre-
:vent vehicular traffic from entering on or exiting from County Line Road
-.;:at the intersection thereof with Forestway Avenue, Fairview Avenue,
''Kenmore Avenue and Willow Avenue (as extended).
2. That in the further interest of increased safety and efficiency
'-of traffic movement the::C'o ,rpo.rate Authorities of the Village of Deerfield
strongly urge that the Highway Department of the County of Cook,in addi-
,. tion to the improvements hereinabove described, construct left -turn bays
at the intersection of County Line Road and Huehl Road and Birchwood
Avenue; and the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Deerfield do
'hereby evidence their intent to seek to bring about an alignment of
"'.Birchwood Avenue and Hueh-r—Road at their point of intersection with
County Line Road.
