AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE AMENDED LAKE COUNTY
WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, the County of Lake ("County'), pursuant to the powers granted to it by
55 ILCS 5/5-1062, adopted the Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance ("WDO'� on
July 12, 1994, establishing rules and regulations for floodplain and stormwater management
throughout the County and superseding any less restrictive municipal rules and regulations;
and
WHEREAS, the County has amended the WDO numerous times since its adoption;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield ("Village'
have previously adopted the WDO; and
WHEREAS, on October 13, 2020, the County adopted a resolution approving
amendments to the WDO ("Amended WDO'�, which Amended WDO is attached as Exhibit
A, and became effective in the County immediately; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village find it to be in the best
interest of the Village to require all development to meet, at least, the minimum standards
prescribed by the Amended WDO to the fullest extent practicable; and
WHEREAS, three copies of the Amended WDO have been on file in the office of the
Village Clerk, and available for inspection, for not less than 30 days; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it will serve and be in the best
interests of the Village and its residents to adopt by reference the Amended WDO;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD OF
DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION ONE: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are incorporated into, and
made a part of, this Ordinance as findings of the Village Board.
SECTION TWO: APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT TO SECTION 6-2 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE. Section 2, titled "Adoption of Building Codes and Modifications," of
Article 1, titled "In General," of Chapter 6, titled "Building," of "The Municipal Code of the
Village of Deerfield, Illinois, 1975," as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-2. Adoption Of Building Codes And Modifications:
The erection, repair or alteration of all structures and property not regulated
or excepted by other provisions of this chapter shall be in compliance with the

provisions of the following codes, which are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth herein, with the modifications provided herein:
h) The Lake County )Yatershed Development Ordinance. as
apgroved as Amended by the Lake County Board on October 13
2020."
SECTION THREE: PUBLICATION. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to
publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form pursuant to the Statutes of the State of Illinois.
SECTION FOUR: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance will be in full force and
effect after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
