O-60-08' Ordinance Licensing Building, lontractors
Be it ordained by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Deerfield, Illinois, that:
Section 1. Definition - License required:
It.shall be unlawful to engage in business in the municipality
as a building contractor without first having obtained a license therefor as herein-
after provided.

The term Building Contractor shall mean anyone engaged in the
a. excavating contractor
b. sewer contractor
c. cement or concrete contractor, either flat or form work
d. masonry contractor
e. carpenter contractor
f* heating and ventilating contractor
g. building wceckers
h. any other contractor engaged in construction or building
The term Building Contractor shall mean and include anyone
engaged in the construction, alteration or repair of buildings or other structures
or sidewalks or street pavements. Provided that the provisions of this ordinance
shall not be construed to'require a license for the operation of the business of
Plumbing Contractor, or for Electrical Contractors who have registered as such pursuant to
the provisions of the ordinance relating to Electrical and Plumbing Contractors.
Engaging in the construction, repair or alteration of.any build-
ing, structure, or street or sidewalk pavement in the municipality for which a permit
is required under the ordinances of the municipality shall be construed as doing bus-
iness as a contractor in the municipality.
Section 2. Application:
(Character of Applicant)
Applications for such licenses shall be made in compliance with
Chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield for licenses and permits
except applications shall be sumbitted to the Building Commissioner for approval.
Bond:
Before such license shall be issued, the applicant shall execute
a surety bond running to the Village, with a corporate surety, in the amount of Five
Thousand Dollars, ($5,000.00), conditioned to indemnify and keep harmless the Village
from any expense, liability, loss or damage resulting from the issuance of such license
or from the work undertaken pursuant to said license, or the manner of doing the same.
Section 3. Fees:
The annual fee for such license shall be:

b. sewer
c. cement or concrete
d. mason
e. carpenter.
f. heating and ventilating
g. building wreckers
h. any other contractors

Section 4. Sub - contractors:
Any person doing business as a sub - contractor shall be construed
as engaged in the business of a building contractor for which a license is required by
this ordinance.
Section 5. Regulations:
It shall be the duty of all building contractors to comply with
all ordinances relating to the construction of buildings or other structures, to the
construction of streets or sidewalk pavements, and all laws or ordinances pertaining
to or regulating the activities engaged in.
Section 6. Revocation:
Any such license may be revoked JORt for
repeated violations of the ordinances relating to the construction of buildings, such
revocation by the Village President w Board of Trustees.
Section 7. Penalties:
Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this
ordinance shall be fined not less than $5.00 nor more than $200.00 for each offense;
and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a vio-
lation occurs or continues.
