ORDINANCE NO. 2019- 0-19-32
AN ORDINANCE DISSOLVING THE SISTER CITY COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield is a home rule unit of local government pursuant
to the provisions of Article VII, Section 6 of the Illinois Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the Village has an ad hoc Sister City Commission ("Commission"), which
Commission has not met for at least 20 years; and
WHEREAS, the Village, through the Commission, previously engaged in a sister city
relationship with Ludinghausen, Germany; and
WHEREAS, Ludinghausen no longer acknowledges any relationship between it and
the Village; and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2019, the Village Volunteer Engagement Commission
voted unanimously to recommend the dissolution of the Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it will serve and be in the best
interests of the Village and its residents to dissolve the Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD OF
DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION ONE: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are incorporated into, and
made a part of, this Ordinance as findings of the Village Board.
SECTION TWO: DISSOLUTION OF THE SISTER CITY COMMISSION.
Pursuant to the Village's home rule authority, the Commission is hereby dissolved.
SECTION THREE: PUBLICATION The Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
this Ordinance in pamphlet form pursuant to the Statutes of the State of Illinois.
SECTION FOUR: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance will be in full force and
effect ten days after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
