AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7.001
OF CHAPTER .7 OF THE. MUNI C I.PAL CODE, ,
OF DEERFIELD-OF 1963, AS-AMENDED
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD.OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE-AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS,:AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Sectiom 7.001 of Chapter 7 of the Municipal
ONE: Code of Deerfield of 1963, as amended, be and the
same is hereby further amended by striki.ng.said
section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"7.001 Creation of department.) There is hereby created a police
department, an executive department of the village. The police
department shall consist of Mhe chief of police who shall be ex-
officio village marshal, one captain, four lieutenants, and such
other members as.may be provided for.from time to time by the
president and board of trustees."
SECTION That the amendment to said section effected by this
TWO: Ordinance shall in no way affect the status or rank
of the persons presently holding the'rank of sergeant
and such persons shall continue to hold such rank until promoted or
removed or discharged from the.department as provided 5T,..]aw; provided,
that upon such promotion or removal or discharge the rank of- sergeant
shall be abol i.shed.
SECTION That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in con -
THREE: flict herewith, are, to the extent of such conflict,
hereby repealed..
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
FOUR: trom and after its passage, approval and publication,
as provided by law.
