WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield recently experienced
the heaviest snowfall recorded during the past eighty years, coupled
with high wind velocity which created very difficult conditions of
drifting snow and poor visibility; and
WHEREAS, the men of the Public Works Department
operated snow removal equipment continuously for the better part
of three days, including the hauling of snow from the business dis-
trict; and
WHEREAS, the Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Company
and the Deerfield Park District responded to the emergency by
providing men and equipment that greatly expedited and facilitated
the maintenance of passable streets; and
WHEREAS, the performance of all personnel in all depart-
ments of the Village was above and beyond the normal call of
d uty; and
WHEREAS, this exceptional effort enabled the proper
functioning of Police, Fire, and rescue vehicles as well as the
normal movement of trucks and automobiles throughout the com-
m unity:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor
and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield that all personnel
be commended for their exceptional efforts and their demonstration
of outstanding ability during this emergency situation; and
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the Allis Chalmers Manu-
facturing Company and the Deerfield Park District be publicly
thanked for their invaluable assistance.
