BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees -of the
Village of Deerfield, Lake County, Illinois, that:
The Village President may be referred to as Mayor of the Village.
The term "Vil-lage President" as used in any ordinance, resolution,
motion or other action of the corporate authorities shall. be construed
as meamiing;,,the.:Mayoo; and the term "Mayor" wherever so used shall be
construed to mean the-Village President.
The title !'Mayor" as used in the minutes of the meetings of the
corporate authorities or any other official document shall.be construed
as meaning "Village President ".

Dear Mr. Whitney:
I am enclosing -an ordinance based on a recent
statute authorizing referring to the Village
President as Mayor. There is some doubt as to
whether the official record - - such as minutes - may refer to him as Mayor instead of Village.
President,. Chapman,and.Cutler construed this
statute as not changing `the official title of the
chief executive, so that all bond ordinances mi�st
show reference to the Village President throu'Fn it
the entire transcript. That, at least, is their
present conclusion.
I think for all other purposes the title Mayor
can be used.
