WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield is desirous of electing to participate
in the program under the ILLINOIS POLICE TRAINING ACT; and
WHEREAS, in order that the Village may be eligible for initial or continued
participation in the program, the law requires that before an individual may
commence regular employment as a Policeman, he must have been certified by the
ILLINOIS LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TRAINING BOARD as haviiag
successfully completed an approved training course; and

WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield intends to utilize schools certified
by said Board for the purpose of providing the basic training required under
the said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois, that:
Section 1. The Village of Deerfield does hereby elect to participate in
the program provided for in the ILLINOIS POLICE TRAINING ACT.
Section 2. Before an individual may commence regular employment as a
Policeman in this Village, he must have been certified by the ILLINOIS LOCAL
GOVERNMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TRAINING BOARD as having successfully
completed an approved training course as provided in said Act.
Section 3. Such basic training as set forth in Section 2 above must be
completed by the trainee within h1s probationary period of 12 months.
Section 4. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village
of Deerfield are hereby instructed and directed to make the necessary amend-
ments to its Personnel Rules to require that any person appointed to the
Police Department of the Village of Deerfield pursuant to the provisions of
the ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL.CODE, Section 10 -2 -26, shall not become a regular
member of the Deerfield Police Department until and unless he shall have
completed the approved training course within 12 months of the date of his
