ORDINANCE NO. ZG
An Ordinance relative to tax levies
for Street and Bridge purposes.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of "An Act in
relation to tax levies for street and bridge purposes by
cities, villages and incorporated towns and to repeal an Act
herein named" approved July 9, 1941, as amended July 25,
1945, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Deerfield, Lake County, Illinois, are authorized to levy
for the said Village a tax for street and bridge purposes
at a rate not to exceed .06 per cent of the full fair cash
value as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue,
and the said Village Board of Trustees may, by a three - fourths
vote of the Trustees, levy an additional tax for street and
bridge purposes at a rate of not to exceed .04166 per cent
of the full, fair cash value as equalized or assessed by
the Department of Revenue, of taxable property within the
Village of Deerfield, and it is deemed expedient to exercise
this power so that the revenue of the Village for these
purposes will not be dependent upon the action of the Highway
Commissioner and the Township authorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT
AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DWMFIELD, LAKE COUNTY,
ILLINOIS:
Section 1: That it is the opinion of more than
three - fourths of the Trustees of the Village of Deerfield
that a greater levy than .06 per cent of the full, fair cash

value as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue
of taxable property in the Village of Deerfield for street
and bridge purposes is needed for the fiscal year beginning
May 1, 1948 and ending on April 30, 1949.
Section 2: That it is further the opinion of more
than three - fourths of the said Trustees that such an additional
levy is needed to be made and should be made, so it is
provided that an additional tax be levied for street and
bridge purposes of .04166 per cent of the full, fair cash
value as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue
of taxable property within the said Village of Deerfield
in addition to the levy of .06 per cent of the full, fair
cash value as equalized or assessed by the Department of
Revenue of taxable property within the said Village of
Deerfield.
Section 3: This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to
the authority of the Act above described, and the County
Clerk shall as to the taxable property lying within the
said Village of Deerfield, reduce and abate from such street
and bridge tax levied by the authority of the above described
Act as amended, a rate equivalent to the amount of all
town or road district road and bridge taxes accruing to
the Village of Deerfield in accordance with the provisions
of Section 59 of "An act to revise the law in relation to
roads and bridges" approved June 27, 1913 as amended.
Section 4: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed
to file with the County Clerk of Lake County, Illinois, on
or before the 2nd day of September, 1948, a copy of this
Ordinance duly certified by said Village Clerk.

Section 5: That this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
