SPECIAL MEETING
Pursuant to notice thereof, a Special Meeting of the President and Board
of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President
in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, February 26, 1973 at
8:15 p.m., for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the Special Election
held February 24, 1973. The clerk called the roll end reported that the follow-
ing were
Present: Bernard Forrest, President
Albert E. Brust
Werner E. Neuman
Daniel H. Stiehr
M. Jay Turner, Jr.
Absent: George Kelm
Stephen M. Slavin
and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present
were Messrs. Richard Houpt, Village attorney, and Norris Stilphen, manager.
Canvass Feb. 24, 1973 Election The Clerk announced that the judges of
election in each precinct had duly delivered
the ballots, tally sheets and returns in connection with the Special Election
held February 24, 1973 for the purpose of voting on: I. Question to issue
$1,080;000 Sewer Improvement Bonds, and II. Question to issue $4,300,000 Sewage
Treatment Facilities Bonds.
Trustee Neuman moved, seconded by Trustee Turner, that the clehk open and
r edd the returns. Motion carried unanimously.
The clerk then opened and read the returns which showed the following
votes cast on the proposition "Shall bonds in the amount of $1,080,000 be issued
by the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois, for the purpose
of paying the cost of constructing additionas, improvements and extensions to
the existing sewer system of said Village, and to pay-the cost of acquiring land
and constructing storm water retention facilities thereon, said bonds hearing
interest at the rate of not to exceed six per cent (6%) per annum ?"

and the following votes cast on the proposition "Shall bonds in the amount of
$3,300,000 be issued by the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois,
for the purpose of paying the cost of construction additions and improvement
to the existing sewage treatment plant and East Side Pumping Station, said bonds
bearing interest at the rate of not to exceed six per cent (6%) per annum ?"

Ordinance Canvassing The ordinance entitled "An Ordinance convassing
Special Election & and declaring the results of the Special Election
Declaring Results held on February 24, 1973, in and for the Village
(0 -73 -8) of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois"
was presented and read in full.
Trustee Neuman moved, seconded by Trustee Turner, that the rules be waived
to permit action on the ordinance at its first presentation.
Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Neuman moved, seconded by Trustee Turner, that the Ordinance be
passed as presented and read. Upon roll call, the following vote was recorded:

You are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the President

February 26, 1973 at 8:00 p.m. in the Village Hall for the purpose of
canvassing the results of the Special .Election held February 24, 1973,
and to transact such other business as may legally transacted at such
Special Meeting.

The President declared the motion - carried and the ordinance passed, and then
signed the ordinance indicating his approval thereof.
Approve Payment to Trustee Neuman moved, seconded by Trustee Turner,
Judges of Election that payment of $35.00 be approved to each of the
twenty judges who served in the February 24, 1973 Special,
election. Adopted by the following vote;
Ayes: Brust, Neuman, Stiehr, Turner (4)
N ays: None (0)
There being no further business, on motion by Trustee Stiehr and seconded by
Trustee Turner, the meeting was adjourned at 8 :20 p.m.
