Reports - Communications The manager reported a letter had been
received from Vice President Humphrey regarding
the President,!s Council on Youth Opportunity. The manager was directed to
a dvise him that the Village has been giving summer employment to students.
The Board approved a Proclamation for Ravinia Festival Week. Also
approved was the Jaycee Proclamation designating May 20th as Charco -Chick Day.
The manager reported that letters had been sent out to residents of the
Castlewood - Garand Drive area regarding flooding problems.
Discussion was had on the report from the Safety Council recommen0 fig,;
that street lights be installed throughout the Village this year. Trustee
Schleicher suggested that the Safety Council be requested to set up a schedule
for street lights, telling them how many the Village could afford each year.
Trustee Raff moved, seconded by Trustee Schleicher, that the Safety Council's
report be accepted.
Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Schleicher moved, seconded by Trustee Forrest, that the meeting
be adjourned to Monday, April 24, 1967 at 8 :00 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 10 :05 p.m.

The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers
of the Village Hall on Monday, April 24, 1967 at 8 :15 p.m. The clerk called
the roll and reported that the followiing were

George P. Schleicher
James M. Wetzel

and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present
were Messrs. Richard Houpt, Village attorney,and Norris Stilphen, manager.
The clerk reported that the judges of election in each precinct had
duly delivered the ballots, returns and tally sheets in connection with
the election for Village officials held on the 18th day of April, 1967.
Trustee Weetzel; moved, seconded by Trustee Craig, that the clerk open
and readr•the returns. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Craig, Forrest, Raff, Schleicher, Wetzel (5)
Nays: None (0)
The clerk then opened and read the returns which showed the following
votes cast for the persons and offices indicated:

Ordinance Canvassing Election The ordinance canvassing the
(0-67-19) results of the election held
April 18,.1967 was read, declaring
the following to be elected: George P. Schleicher, George Kelm, and Charles
R. Bootz elected Village Trustees for four year terms; Elizabeth Buker and
Joseph G. Powell elected Library Directors for six year terms.
Trustee Forrest moved, seconded by Trustee Raff, that the rules
be waived-tto permit action on the said ordinance at its first presentation.
Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Craig moved, seconded by Trustee Raff, that the ordinance
be adopted.. Upon roll call the ordinance was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Craig, Forrest, Raff, Wetzel (4)
Nays: None (0)
Abstaining: Schleicher (1)
The President signed the ordinance

Waive Bids - Cell Block Discussion was had on the taking of
Equipment bids for cell block equipment, Trustee
Schleicher pointing out that the
concrete must be poured. Trustee Schleicher moved, seconded by Trustee Raff,
that the Board waive securing bids for cell block equipment. Adopted by
the following vote :'
Ayes: Craigr Raff, Schleicher, Wetzel (4)
Nays: Forrest (1)
Trustee Raff moved, seconded by Trustee Schleicher, that -the architect
be authorized to have the concrete work done to meet the specifications for
cell block equipment. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Craig, Forrest, RAff, Schleicher (4)
Nays: Wetzel (1)
President Finney reported that a truck and Police -car had been sent to
Lake Zurich to give --assistance following the recent tornado. A plaque and
letter of appreciation were given to retiring Trustee Wetzel.
There being no further business, on motion by Trustee Wetzel, seconded
by Trustee Raff, the meeting was adjourned at 8 :40 p.m.
