The CATV meeting at the High School will be held Monday,
September 26th at 8 p.m. Trustee Schleicher suggested that the
Board arr.A ve about 7 :30 - 7 :45 to meet the speakers personally.
He reported that there had been several changes in speakers, although
the organizations remain the same.
President Finney stated the appraisal for the Rommel property
had been received and asked the manager to notify Mr. Jack Bateman
that the Board proposes to discuss this, matter with the merchants
on Thursday, September 22nd, if convenient.
The manager reported it would cost approximately $135 each
to convert the old street lights in the Briarwoods Subdivision from
electricity to gas. This price includes parts and labor. He stated the
Supt. of Public Works was trying to find a pole near a gas main for a
demonstration.
The President reported he had received a card from Mr. Arthur
Ullmann of the Sister City Committee, who is visiting Deerfield's
sister city, Luedinghausen, Germany. The Burgmeister had added his
greetings.
Discussion was had on the Presbyterian Church parking lot, and
the manager's report that the Church wanted to replace one row of
parking spaces with a 20 ft. strip of shrubs and lawn. Trustee Wetzel
stated the Chutch should be informed of their responsibility to provide
a fair share of parking space, as other churches have been required to
do, and asked that the parking plans for the church be reviewed carefully.
Trustee Raff stated the church should be allowed to include the easement
given for road purposes in the computation of parking area. Trustee
Schleicherstated it was not unreasonable to expect the church to.-•submit
a complete parking plan, showing location of parking on other property,
and approval of owners.for the use of their property for church parking.
The manager and building commissioner will review the plans and notify
the Church of the Board's concern.
There being no further business, on motion by Trustee Forrest,
seconded by Trustee Schleicher, the meeting was adjourned at 11:55 p.m.
