R-99-15RESOLUTION NO. R- 99 -15, As Amended WHEREAS, over the years, intergovernmental cooperation between the Village of Deerfield and the Deerfield Park District has proven beneficial to the community; and WHEREAS, both the Park District and Village have been working with the Deerfield Senior Council on the need for a new senior center; and WHEREAS, the Village has already expressed its support for a new facility and indicated its willingness to help fund its development; and WHEREAS, the Park District has asked the Village to commit the commuter parking lot at Deerfield Road and Robert York Avenue for senior parking as part of a plan to add a senior center to the Jewett Park Community Center; and WHEREAS, the Village has declined to dedicate said parking lot because its availability is critical for use exclusively by Deerfield residents; and WHEREAS, the Village is prepared to assist the Park District in reconfiguring commuter parking on Park Avenue to create more parking spaces, some of which could be committed to parking for a senior center in Jewett Park; and WHEREAS, the Park District is responsible for selecting an appropriate site for a senior center and for pursuing the required zoning through the established public hearing process; and WHEREAS, the Park District has submitted a revised proposal to the 2001 for a one story senior center building at the Brickyards Park; WHEREAS, there should be no further delay in developing and executing a specific plan to build a new senior center within a reasonable time frame. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD: SECTION That P esolution No, R-99-15 adopted on September 7,_1999 ONE' hereby amended to-include the highlighted text contained herein SECTION That the Village endorses the Senior Council's request for a fI - 3 senior center and agrees to participate with the Park District in funding, at a 50% level, that part of a facility dedicated to senior use, under one of the following options: ECTION s .HREE RESOLUTION NO. SECTION That it must be understood that the Mayor and Board of Trustees FO cannot give formal approval to a particular site until all land use procedures are followed as required by the Deerfield Zoning Ordinance. SECTION That the Village administrative and engineering staffs and the police department shall provide reasonable assistance to the Park District in considering the reconfiguration of parking spaces on Park Avenue if Jewett Park is selected as the site. SECTION That a copy of this resolution should be forwarded to the Deerfield SIX Park District and the Deerfield Senior Council. 2 RESOLUTION NO.
