The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council
Chambers of the Village Hall on Tuesday, February 24, 1959 at 8:00 P.M.
The Clerk called the roll and reported the following were
Present: G. E. Holmquist, President
Joseph W. Brown
Harold L. Peterson
Maurice C. Petesch
Arno D. Wehle
Absent: Carl J. Jaeger
Joseph W. Koss
and that a quorum was.present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present
were Mr. Thomas Matthews, Village Attorney, and Mr. Royce Owens, Village
Manager.
Moved by Trustee Wehle, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the minutes
of the regular meeting held February 11, 1959 be approved as submitted.
Motion carried unanimmously.
Trustee Koss entered the meeting and was present thereafter.
President Holmquist introduced John Warton and Bob Segert, candidates
for office on Student Government Day.
Reject Purchase - Lot 2 Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee
Schmit Subdivision Brown, that Lot 2, Albert J. Schmit Resub-
division be purchased for future street use,
or to be sold later if not needed for street purposes. Upon roll call, the
following vote was recorded:-
Ayes: Brown, Peterson (2)
Nays: Koss, Petesch (2)
Pass: Wehle (1)
The motion failed for lack of a majority.
Approve Building Permit Trustee Peteech moved, seconded by Trustee
Lot 2 - Schmit Sub. Koss, that the Building Commissioner be
instructed to issue a.building permit to M.
Rosset ti Associates for a residence on Lot 2, Albert J. Schmit Resubdivision.
Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Koss, Petesch, Wehle (3)
Nays: Brown, Peterson (2)
Approve Temporary Policeman Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Koss,
Melvin Mullins that the Board approve the extension of employ-
ment of Melvin Mullins as a temporary police
officer from February 9, 1959 to April 9, 1959• Adopted by.the following
vote:
Ayes: Brown, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)
Nays: None (0)
Foreclosure - 47 Lots Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee
Solomon's Addition Koss, that approval be given for the fore -
- closure of delinquent special assessments on
47 lots in Solomon's Addition to Deerfield Subdivision, at 100% of the
principal amount due. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, K ss, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)

RESOLUTION R -59 -1
WHEREAS, the Village of Bannockburn has undertaken to rezone
property in the Village of Bannockburn to industrial and commercial
uses; and
WHEREAS, the land to be rezoned lies to the north of and immedi-
ately adjacent to the site acquired by High School District #113 for the
construction of a new High School; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield, being a part of High School
District #113, has a direct interest in the said new High School;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees
of the Village of Deerfield take this means of expressing disapproval of
the contemplated rezoning as not being in the best interests of the students
of the Village of Deerfield; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to
the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Bannockburn, and to
the President and members of the Board of Education of School District #113.
