The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council
Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, January 14, 1957 at 8:00 P.M. the
Clerk called the roll and reported the following were

and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting.
Minutes of the regular meeting held December 10, 1956 and the
adjourned meetin& held December 17, 1956.

Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Meyer, that the bills as listed
above be approved for payment. Adopted by the following vote:

Authorize Variance The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that
1360 Woodland_Drive a variance be granted and building permit be
issued to Mr. R. M. Thompson, 1360 Woodland
Drive, to permit the construction of an attached garage within 6 feet of the
side lot line. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the
Board concur in the recommendation of the Board of Zoning Apl,eals and the
variance be granted.
Carried unanimously.
Authorize Variance The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that
704 Warwick Road a variance be granted and building permit
issued to Valenti Builders to permit the
construction of an attached garage at 704 Warwick Road within 5 feet 10 inches
of the side lot line. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that
the Board ccncur in the recommendation of the Board of Zoning Appeals, and
the variance be granted.

Approve Rpports The report of the Building Commissioner for
December was approved. The Health Officer's
report was approved. The Fire Marshal's report of calls and inspections was
approved. The report of the Chief of Police, showing 88 arrests and fines
of $633 was approved.
Approve Payment - $81691.25 Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trusteb- Petesch,
Deerfield Construction Company that payment of $8,691.25 be approved to Deer-
field Construction Company for work completed
on the Village Hall. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6)

Change Order 5 - Village Hall Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
Approved that Change Order 5 a sign of the new Village
Hall, amounting to 4150.00, be approved.

Change Order 6 - Village Hall Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
Approved that Change Order 6, covering changes in electric
service locations, amounting to $2,550.00 be

Baxter & Woodman Agreement Lettebs of intention to pay their share of the
Authorized - ounty Line Sewer cost Cor the construction of theCounty Line Road
sewer were received from Tractomotive Corporation
and Kleinochmidt Laboratories. Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
that the President be authorized to sign the agreement with Baxter & Woodman
for engineering services in connection with the County Line Road sewer. kdopted
by the following vote:

Authorize Attorney - Appeal An appeal having been filed in the Lake County
from Police Magistrate Court from the decision of thePolice Magistrate
in the Michael McHugh case, Trustee Petesch
moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the Village Attorney be authorized to
defend the case. Adopted by the following vote:

Waukegan Road Speed Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
that the report of theDivision of Highways
regarding speed limits on Waukegan Road be approved, as recommended by,the
Safety Council.

Ordinance -Fire Marshal's Trustee Petesch roved, seconded b,-- Trustee

at $100.00 per month from October 15, 1956, to*Januar9 15 1957, and 50.00
per month from Jan- ary 15, 1957. Adopted by the following vote:

Resolution - School Crossing Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee

Ostermand Avenue and Waukegan Road.

Ordinance - Variances Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee
1258 Wincanton, 912 Harrington Kelley, that an ordinance be adopted granting
70 T ._arwicK, 1 60 Woodland variances from the strict enforcement of the
2 _57 zoning requirements relating to side yards
on the following properties:
11.58 'incanton Drive, 912 Warrington Road, 704 'i,arwick Road, and 1360
sioodland Drive. Adopted by the following vote:

The village Manager reported that Mr. Liebling's attorney had filed
ah amended complaint in the case Liebling vs. Village of Deerfield, which
had been accepted by the Judge over the objections of the attorney representing
the village.
Mr. Rupp reported a request had been received from the School Board to
plow school parking lots. He stated both snow plow trucks had broken down
during the recent storm, and a new motor block had been ordered. 1'he plowing
of sidewalks was discussed, Trustee Kelley stating it was he opinion that the
Board should provide services to the residents of the Village. He reported
he had received numerous complaints regarding the lack of plowing sidewalks
by the Village. The Board will consider -Lis matter further.
On motion by Trustee Kelley, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, the meeting
was adjourned to January 26, 1957 at 8:00 P.M. I /
