A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield
was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers of the Village
Hall on Monday, August 6, 1956 at 9:00 P.M., pursuant to notice of said
meeting mailed to each Trustee on July 31, 1956. The Cl erk called the roll
and reported that the following were
Present: John D. Schneider, President
Joseph W. Brown
Hubert N. Kelley
Raymond T. Meyer
Maurice C. Petesch
Absent: Martha White Clark
Carl J. Jaeger
and that a quorum was present and in attendance::at the meeting.
Award Architectural Bid Mr. Lewis B. Walton, Jr. Architect, reported the
Deerfield Construction Co. lowest and next two bidders on contracts had been
carefully investigated. He recommended that the
architectural bid of Deerfield Construction Company be accepted, as the lowest
and best bid. Trustee Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that the bid
of Deerfield Construction Company be accepted at the base bid price of
$101,977..00, with additions of $2,800.00 for a better quality roof, and $450.00
for copper gutters. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)
Nays: None (0)
Award Electric Contract Mr. Walton recommended that the electric contract
Nu -Way Electric Co. be awarded Nu -Way Electric Company. He stated
he was satisfied they would be able to handle the
job, and were willing to furnish bond to the level of the next lowest bidder,
if the Village would pay the additional cost amounting to $26.62. Trustee
Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the contract be awarded Nu -Way
Electric Company at their bid price of $8,838.00, plus $26.62 for additonal
bond coverage. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)

Award Plumbing Contract Mr. Walton recommended that the bid of the low
Ravinia Plumbing bidder, Ravinia Plumbingm be accepted, Trustee
Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that the
contract be awarded Ravinia Plumbing at their bid price of $8,762.00. Adopted
by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)
Nays: None (0)
Heat. -Vent. Contract Mr. Walton recommended acceptance of the low bidder,
Wwatded Plonsker Engineer. Plonsker Engineering Company, for heating and
ventilating work. Trustee Brown moved, seconded
by Trustee Kelley, that the contract be awarded Plonsker Engineering Company
at their bid price of $18,380.00. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)
Nays: None (0)
Authorize President to Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch,
Sian Contracts that the President.be authorized to sign contracts
with the above contractors for the construction
of the new Municipal Building. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)

Authorize Return of Checks Trustee Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
and Bid Bonds that the checks and bid bonds of the unsuccessful
bidders be returned, and the checks and bid bonds
of the successful bidders be returned upon receipt of the signed contracts
and performance bonds. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)
Nays: None (0)
Ordinance - Sewer Connection Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
Fees that an ordinance be adopted establishing fees
for serer connection permits in the Village of
Deerfield. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (4)
Nays: None (0)
Approval of the Dartmouth Gardens Subdivision was tabled for further
consideration.
On motion by Trustee Meyer, seconded by Trustee Brown, and carried
unanimously, the meeting was adjourned.
