WHEREAS, Incredible Universe, a subsidiary of Tandy Corporation, has petitioned the Village of
Northbrook for annexation and zoning to construct a 185,000 square foot retail outlet at the southwest
corner of Lake Cook Rd. and Interstate 294, (the "SUBJECT PROPERTY") and
WHEREAS, at public meetings in Northbrook it has been reported that Northbrook has little
choice but to approve the project on the SUBJECT PROPERTY or it will be annexed to and developed in
the Village of Deerfield, and
WHEREAS, initially Deerfield had discussions with Incredible Universe to review their plans but
concluded that the scope and type of development makes it totally unsuitable for the SUBJECT
PROPERTY, and
WHEREAS, traffic generated by Incredible Universe will add to the congestion on Lake Cook Rd.
giving further support for widening that roadway to six lanes, and
WHEREAS, this development of the SUBJECT PROPERTY would be at Northbrook's "back
door ", but at one of the main entrances to Deerfield and on a road patrolled by the Deerfield Police
Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION The Village of Deerfield has no intention of annexing THE SUBJECT
ONE: PROPERTY under any circumstance if developed as proposed by
Incredible Universe,
SECTION The Village of Northbrook should realize the very serious short and long -
TWO: term negative impacts the Incredible Universe development will have on
this area and, therefore, deny this petition for annexation and zoning.
SECTION The Village Clerk of Deerfield is hereby directed to file this resolution
THREE: with the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Northbrook.
