ORDINANCE NO. 0 -06 -53
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE
AND DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS PERSONAL PROPERTY
OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
WHEREAS, the Deerfield Police Department owns certain items of personal property
described herein that are no longer necessary or useful for service in the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police of the Deerfield Police Department has recommended
that the Village sell and dispose of such surplus items of personal property as provided herein;
and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield concur in the
recommendation of the Chief of Police.and hereby determine that the items of property described
herein are surplus property and are no longer necessary for the use of the Village and should be
sold or otherwise disposed of as authorized in this ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, in the exercise of its home rule powers, as follows:
SECTION 1: The President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield do hereby
.find and determine that the items of personal property described herein are no longer necessary,
useful to or in the best interests of the Village of Deerfield, and that the Village would be best
served by the sale or other disposition of said property.
SECTION 2: That the Chief of Police of the Village of Deerfield is hereby authorized
and directed to cause the following surplus squad cars to be sold and disposed of at auction and
by sale as indicated, provided that such items shall be sold "as is" with the Village making no
express or implied guarantees or warranties of any kind whatsoever:

SECTION 3: That the Chief of Police is hereby further authorized and directed to cause
the following surplus equipment to be transferred to PropertyRoom.com for sale and disposition
by electronic auction, provided that such items shall be sold "as is" with the Village making no
express or implied guarantees or warranties of any kind whatsoever:

SECTION 4: That the Chief of Police is hereby further authorized and directed to cause
the following surplus equipment to be transferred to the Riverwoods Police Department for
salvage and use as spare parts:
9 Kustom Signal Mobile Video Recording Systems (to Riverwoods P.D. for parts)

SECTION 5: That the Chief of Police is hereby further authorized and directed to cause
the following surplus equipment to be transferred and disposed of as a trade credit for future
purchases:
PRISONER SHIELDS: Two (2) shields to Lund Enterprise for $150.00 credit for
future work / repair.
SECTION 6: That the Chief of Police, having determined that the following surplus
equipment has no value for sale, trade or donation, is hereby further authorized and directed to
cause the following surplus equipment to be disposed of as a scrap or refuse:
10 RADIO CONSOLES: (for disposal / no value).
SECTION 7: That this Ordinance, and each of its terms, shall be the effective legislative
act of a home rule municipality without regard to whether such Ordinance should: (a) contain
terms contrary to the provisions of current or subsequent non - preemptive state law; or, (b)
legislate in a manner or regarding a matter not delegated to municipalities by state law. It is the
intent of the corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield that to the extent that the terms of
this Ordinance should be inconsistent with. any non - preemptive state law, this Ordinance shall
supersede state law in that regard within its jurisdiction.

SECTION 8: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
