AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 -158
OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, ILLINOIS OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 2 -158 of the Municipal Code of the Village
ONE: of Deerfield, Illinois of 1975, entitled "Duties and
Functions" be amended by deleting subsection (a)(7)
thereof in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the
following:
11(7) Energy Advisory and Resource Recovery
Commission. The Energy Advisory and Resource Recovery
Commission shall have the following functions and
duties:
(A) To research and develop a comprehensive energy
plan for the Village and to advise the Corporate
Authorities concerning:
1. Application of energy conservation
principles to land use planning.
2. Energy efficiency in transportation.
3. Development of in -house knowledge of energy
management and its application.
4. Communication of energy saving steps to the
public.
5. Incentives and financing methods of energy
conservation and the use of reusable energy
sources.
6. Facilitation of inter - agency exchange of
information, findings and expertise in the
field of energy conservation.
(B) To explore ways and means of implementing a
recycling program in the Village that benefits
the Village by addressing the following solid
waste problems:
1. Make recommendations to the Board of
Trustees with regard to planning and
implementing a resource recovery (recycling)
program.

2. Hold public hearings on resource recovery
alternatives for residential and commercial
solid wastes.
3. Participate and cooperate with governmental
agencies of the state, county, and other
municipalities on matters pertaining to
resource recovery.
4. Provide leadership and guidance in
encouraging greater public interest and
participation in all types of recycling
programs.
(C) Terms of Appointment: The Energy Advisory and
Resource Recovery Commission shall consist of
seven (7) members. All appointments shall be for
for a period of three (3) years as provided in
Section 2 -157.
