AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 15 -5 AND 15 -27 OF CHAPTER 15
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 15 -5 entitled "Assault and battery and
ONE: fighting prohibited" of Chapter 15 of the Municipal
Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as amended,
be and the same is further amended by deleting the Section in its
entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"(a) A person commits an assault when, without lawful
authority, he engages, in conduct which places another
in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery.
(b) A person commits a battery if he intentionally or
knowingly without legal justification and by any
means, (1) causes bodily harm to an individual or
(2) makes physical contact of an insulting or
provoking nature with an individual."
SECTION That Section 15 -27 entitled "Trespasses prohibited"
TWO: of Chapter 15 of the Municipal Code of the Village of
Deerfield of 1975 as amended, be and the same is
further amended by deleting the Section in its entirety and
substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"(a) Whoever enters upon the land or any part thereof
of another, after receiving, prior to such entry,
notice from the owner or occupant that such entry is
forbidden, or remains upon the land of another after
receiving notice from the owner or occupant to depart,
commits a violation of the Municipal Code.
(b) A person has received notice from the owner or
occupant within the meaning of subsection (a) if he
has been notified personally, either orally or in
writing, or if a printed or written notice forbidding
such entry has been conspicuously posted or exhibited
at the main entrance to such land or the forbidden
part thereof.
(c) Whoever knowingly and without authority enters
any part of or operates any vehicle or watercraft
commits a violation of the Municipal Code."
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish
THREE: this Ordinance in pamphlet form.

SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
FOUR: herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby
repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
FIVE: from and after its passage, approval and publication
as provided by law.
