AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6 -19 OF ARTICLE 1 OF CHAPTER 6
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF
DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 6 -19 of Article 1 of Chapter 6 of the Municipal Code
ONE: of the Village of Deerfield of 1975 as amended, be and the same
is hereby further amended by deleting said Section and substitut-
ing in lieu thereof the following:
"Section 6 -19 Building Permits; time limits
(a) Any building permit issued for a single family
residence and under which the proposed construction
has not been completed within one year from the date
of issuance thereof, shall expire by limitation and no
construction, alteration or removal shall take place
after such expiration.
(b) Any building permit issued for construction other
than single family residential under which the
proposed construction has not been completed within
two years from the date of issuance thereof shall
expire by limitation and no construction, alteration
or removal shall take place after such expiration.
(c) All paid fees on such expired permits shall be
forfeited to the Village.
(d) Upon payment of fifty'cents per month on each
thousand dollars of the cost on which the original
permit was issued, but not less than one dollar per
month in any case, a building permit may be extended
for a period not exceeding six months only upon the
approval of the Director of Building and Zoning and
only in the event that the plans for construction
comply with all aspects of this Code and all other
ordinances in effect at said time. Such an extension
may only be granted in the further event that, in the
determination of the Director of Building and Zoning,
the construction work is being diligently pursued and
a valid reason for the renewal has been evidenced. In
no event shall extensions of any such building permits
be granted for more than two additional six month
periods."

SECTION The Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this Ordinance in
TWO: pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
THREE: after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
